The Kindness Mob
A global digital movement called The Kindness Mob, launched by content creator Tyler Brickley, has turned online negativity into positivity. Starting in January 2023 when Tyler hit a low point with social media, the project has grown into a community of volunteers who each day post a nomination of someone deserving of encouragement. Then hundreds of strangers flood the comments of that person’s video with anonymous, supportive messages. So far the group has left over 100,000 kind comments, spreading light one thread at a time. This shows how even in digital spaces often ruled by cynicism, ordinary people can choose kindness and change the tone of the internet for the better.

Car kindness
In Gladstone, Missouri, a mother bought her college-aged son a used 2017 Hyundai Tucson from Northtowne Auto Group — only for the engine to fail a few months later, well beyond the 30-day, 1,000-mile warranty. Most dealerships would’ve shrugged, but owner J.P. Knudsen, who’s been in the car business for over 30 years, decided to “take care of his people.” Instead of turning her away, he offered to replace the car at no extra cost, simply because, as he put it, “That’s what we’re supposed to do in this world—take care of people.”

A heart for Disney World
In Ohio, a little boy named Xaiden was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and suffered a stroke shortly after his first open-heart surgery. Doctors recently told his parents that he likely only had weeks to live. A retired firefighter/paramedic named Kelly Shotwell saw their story, and he and his family invited Xaiden’s family to join them for a trip to Walt Disney World—arranging flights, tickets and a rental car. Thanks to this act of strangers stepping in when hope was dim, the family will make memories they once thought impossible, and their fight feels less lonely and more human.
