WEEKLY BRIGHT SPOTS

A sledgehammer for a second chance
When a house fire broke out in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a 90-year-old man escaped — but his 85-year-old wife, who uses a wheelchair, was still trapped inside. As smoke filled the home and seconds ticked by, an unnamed neighbor arrived with a sledgehammer, broke through the door, and carried the woman to safety before firefighters could reach her. All three were later treated and released from the hospital. Local officials praised the neighbor’s quick thinking, noting that sometimes the difference between tragedy and survival is simply someone willing to step forward. In a terrifying moment, ordinary courage became extraordinary.

Temperatures drop, warmth rises
As temperatures in Green Bay, Wisconsin, plunged to –19°F, warming shelters began turning people away. That’s when Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, a rescue devoted to special-needs cats, made an unexpected decision: open its doors to anyone who needed to get out of the cold. Normally a refuge for blind and disabled felines, the sanctuary welcomed unhoused neighbors to sleep on couches, use the Wi-Fi, and stay warm — with just two rules: be kind to others, and be kind to the cats. Volunteers even stayed overnight to supervise and ensure everyone’s safety. In dangerously frigid weather, a place built for vulnerable animals became a lifeline for vulnerable people as well.

From fire to fish
There was a time when Toronto’s Don River was so polluted it literally caught fire. Industrialization had straightened its path, destroyed wetlands, and left it biologically “dead” by the late 1960s. But after nearly $1 billion in restoration efforts, the river is now something few living residents had ever seen: clean, fishable, and thriving. Ecologists have confirmed more than 20 species of fish, including Atlantic salmon, northern pike, walleye, and largemouth bass at multiple life stages. Wetlands were rebuilt, the river’s curves restored, and spawning gravel beds added. For a waterway once written off, the return of fish isn’t just ecological data—it’s proof that damage can be undone, and that patient restoration can bring life back where it was thought lost.

The Daily Immune Ritual I Trust All Winter Long
Winter is when I’m most intentional about supporting my immune system, and Pique’s Daily Immune has become one of my non-negotiables. It’s the kind of daily ritual that feels supportive, not overwhelming and one I actually look forward to.
What sets Daily Immune apart is its liposomal vitamin C, which helps deliver nutrients more effectively to your bloodstream and immune cells, where they can truly do their job. I notice the difference in how steady and resilient I feel, especially during colder months when my body needs extra support. The addition of elderberry gives it that extra layer of seasonal immune defense I trust.
Daily Immune supports my everyday immunity, collagen production, skin resilience, and antioxidant protection all in one simple step. I love that it fits seamlessly into my routine and tastes bright and refreshing.
Winter wellness doesn’t need to be extreme to be effective. For me, Daily Immune is an easy, consistent way to feel supported, strong, and cared for all season long
